15 A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare.
2 The tongue of the wise makes knowledge appealing, but the mouth of a fool belches out foolishness.
3 The Lord is watching everywhere, keeping his eye on both the evil and the good.
4 Gentle words are a tree of life; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.
… 11 Even Death and Destruction[b] hold no secrets from the Lord. How much more does he know the human heart!
… 28 The heart of the godly thinks carefully before speaking; the mouth of the wicked overflows with evil words.
… 33 Fear of the Lord teaches wisdom; humility precedes honor.
Explain – Proverbs 15 focuses on wise living. A gentle answer deflects anger and the tongue of the wise makes knowledge appealing. The heart of the godly think before speaking. The fear, or respect, of the Lord teaches wisdom and humility precedes honor. The Lord can see everywhere including each and every human heart. Even Death and Destruction hold no secrets from the Lord.
Apply – We should not waste time deceiving ourselves as we attempt the impossible task to deceive God. We must repent and accept Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior. Submit to the will of the Holy Spirit as He leads us unto all Truth. Then we will be capable of living godly lives with gentle and loving conversation.
Respond – Lord I recommit my life to You as my Lord and Savior. I will strive to follow You, Holy Spirit, consistently and continuously as You lead me to Your Truth. Thank You, in Jesus Name!
