Avoid Immoral Women
1 My son, pay attention to my wisdom; listen carefully to my wise counsel.
2 Then you will show discernment,
and your lips will express what you’ve learned.
3 For the lips of an immoral woman are as sweet as honey,
and her mouth is smoother than oil.
4 But in the end she is as bitter as poison, as dangerous as a double-edged sword
….
21 For the Lord sees clearly what a man does, examining every path he takes.22 An evil man is held captive by his own sins; they are ropes that catch and hold him.23 He will die for lack of self-control; he will be lost because of his great foolishness.
Explain – Solomon cautions men to be wary of immoral women, that the temptation will not be worth the price. There are no secrets from God, He knows everything we think, say, or do. People can perish due to their foolishness, their lack of self-control.
Apply – All people are tempted by the cravings of this world. There are no secrets from God, He knows everything we think, say, or do. Better to be filled and led by the Holy Spirit who will lead us unto all Truth and keep us sheltered from destruction.
15 Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. 16 For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. 17 And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. 1 John 2 New Living Translation
Respond – Lord, here am I, I trust You and submit my will to You. I strive to abide in You and faithfully and obediently follow You.
