Highlight – Psalms Chapter 26:3-8 New Living Translation

A psalm of David.

3 For I am always aware of your unfailing love, and I have lived according to your truth.
4 I do not spend time with liars or go along with hypocrites.
5 I hate the gatherings of those who do evil, and I refuse to join in with the wicked.
6 I wash my hands to declare my innocence. I come to your altar, O Lord,
7 singing a song of thanksgiving and telling of all your wonders.
8 I love your sanctuary, Lord, the place where your glorious presence dwells.

Explain – The Author, David, declared that he was always aware of God’s unfailing love.  He said that he lived according to God’s Truth.  He didn’t spend time with liars and hypocrites, hated gatherings of those that do evil and refused to join in.  He would come to God’s altar singing a song of thanksgiving.  He loved being in God’s sanctuary the place where God’s glorious presence dwells.

Apply – We can learn from David to seek God frequently, being continually aware of God’s unfailing love.  We too should avoid anyone that might tempt us to stray from our relationship with the Lord.  We should follow Him faithfully and obediently with the joy and peace that is only available through an honest and righteous relationship with the Lord. Since His Holy Spirit indwells us, we carry the sanctuary, His temple, with us wherever we go and should avoid desecrating our body, His temple.  Let’s make ourselves a joy filled expression of our love for Him.

2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 ESV Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

1 Corinthians 6:13 ESV “Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food”—and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.

Philippians 1:20 ESV As it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death.

Romans 12:1 ESV I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

Respond – Lord, thank You for my salvation.  I diligently strive to follow You faithfully and obediently, always forever, making my body, mind, and spirit holy and acceptable for You with Your help.  Thank You for the joy and peace that I experience in all circumstances. I pray for those that do not know You that today is the day of their salvation.  Amen.
