HEAR Journaling - Psalms Chapter 27
Highlight – Psalms Chapter 27:1:3 New Living Translation
A psalm of David.
1 The Lord is my light and my salvation—so why should I be afraid?
The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?
2 When evil people come to devour me, when my enemies and foes attack me, they will stumble and fall.3 Though a mighty army surrounds me, my heart will not be afraid. Even if I am attacked, I will remain confident.
Explain – The Author, David the Psalmist, declared that the Lord was his light and his salvation so he had no reason to be afraid. God was his fortress protecting him from danger. Evil people who sought to devour him would stumble and fall. He said that he wouldn’t be afraid even if an army surrounded him.
Apply – I these perilous time in which we live today, we too need to learn from David and follow his example. God truly protected David through many circumstances and He does the same for us now and will never fail us as long as we remain faithful and obedient to Him.
Isaiah 54:17 ESV No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.”
Deuteronomy 31:6 ESV Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”
2 Thessalonians 3:3 ESV But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.
Psalm 138:7 ESV Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and your right hand delivers me.
2 Samuel 22:3-4 ESV My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge, my savior; you save me from violence. I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.
Romans 8:31 ESV What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
Respond – Lord, thank You for my salvation and the guidance and protection that You provide. Lord help me not to succumb to fear, but to remain steadfast in my confidence in You. I diligently strive to follow You faithfully and obediently, always forever. I pray for those that do not know You will find You, Lord. Amen.
