HEAR Journaling - Psalms Chapter 28

Highlight – Psalms Chapter 28:6-7 New Living Translation

A psalm of David.

6 Praise the Lord! For he has heard my cry for mercy.
7 The Lord is my strength and shield.  I trust him with all my heart.
He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.

Explain – David the Psalmist, praised the Lord for He had heard and responded to David’s cry for mercy.  He knew that the Lord was his strength and shield and trusted the Lord with all his heart.  God helped him, filled his heart with joy so that David burst out in songs of thanksgiving.

Apply – The Lord hears and answers our prayers, He is our strength and shield if we are obediently faithful to Him.  We can trust in the Lord in any circumstance.  He will fill our hearts with joy, and we will be encouraged to burst out in songs of praise as well.

Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Hebrews 10:23 ESV Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.

Deuteronomy 7:9 ESV Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations,

1 Peter 4:19 ESV Therefore let those who suffer according to God's will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.

John 16:33 ESV I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

Matthew 25:21 ESV His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’

1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 ESV Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.

Respond – Lord, I know You hear and answer my prayers.   You are my strength and shield as long as I am obediently faithful to You.  I do trust in You, Lord, in any circumstance.  Thank You for the joy that fills my heart.  I praise and honor You.  I pray for those that do not know You, may they find You today.  Amen.
