HEAR Journaling - Psalms Chapter 29
Highlight – Psalms Chapter 29: New Living Translation
A psalm of David.
2 Honor the Lord for the glory of his name. Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.
3 The voice of the Lord echoes above the sea. The God of glory thunders. The Lord thunders over the mighty sea.4 The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic.5 The voice of the Lord splits the mighty cedars; the Lord shatters the cedars of Lebanon.
Explain – The Author, David the Psalmist, said to honor the Lord for the glory of His name. Worship Him in the splendor of His holiness. David goes on to describe the might, power, and majesty of God’s voice.
Apply – We can know all about God’s voice, the might, power, and majesty, but how much sweeter to know God’s voice, to spend time with Him, to communicate with Him like no one else.
Romans 10:17 ESV So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
John 10:27-28 ESV My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.
John 14:26 ESV But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
John 14:23 ESV Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
Hebrews 4:12 ESV For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Galatians 2:20 ESV I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Respond – Lord, thank You for my salvation and this wonderful relationship that I share with You. I hear and know Your voice, Lord. I diligently strive to abide in You as You abide in me, faithfully and obediently following You, always. I pray for those that do not know You Lord; may they find You today. Amen.
