In this parable both the wise and the foolish are faced with rain falling, floods coming, winds blowing and beating upon their houses. The rock and the sand are the deciding factors. Are you building your house upon the Rock who is Jesus Christ and His eternal Word? Or the sand which will fail when storms come?

"Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock." - Matthew 7:24-25
