Sermon Notes-"" Heart Issues"
"We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in
Christ." - Colossians 1:28 (NIV84)
1 "The sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron; with a point of diamond it is engraved on the tablet of their heart, and on the horns of their altars, 2while their children remember their altars and their Asherim, beside every green tree and on the high hills, 3on the mountains in the open country. Your wealth and all your treasures I will give. For spoil as the price of your high places for sin throughout all your territory. 4 You shall loosen your hand from your heritage that I gave to you, and I will make you serve your enemies in a land that you do not know, for in my anger a fire is kindled that shall burn forever." 5Thus says the Lord: "Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the Lord. 6He is like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see any good come. He shall dwell in the parched places of the wilderness, in an uninhabited salt land. 7"Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. 8He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit." 9The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? 10"I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds."

Heart: The CORE or INNER SELF, including intellect, will, emotions, and reasoning.
A diagnosis of Judah's heart condition:
1. Sin was ENGRAVED on their heart. They had gone past the point ofno return.
28And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.
Romans 1 :28 (ESV)
Sinning means losing (17:3-4):
1. Loss of GOD'S FAVOR.
2. Loss of FREEDOM.
2. Their heart had TURNED AWAY from God.
3, Their heart was deceitful, sick and INCURABLE. The root word for 'deceit' is also translated AMBUSH.
This is the UNIVERSAL heart condition of man.
Jesus gave His life so we could have a NEW HEART.
261 will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 271 will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.
Ezekiel36:26-27 (NKJV)
33But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and writit on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
Jeremiah 31:33 (NKJV)
Send out your ROOTS to the LIVING WATER (i.e. make Jesus your heart's desire).
12 I don't mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. 13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.
