Soon after graduating from Cleveland Heights High school, Allan began performing at many of the upscale nightclubs in the Cleveland, Ohio area. He moved to California to further pursue a music career on the west coast. While working as Director of Entertainment at Sambi of Tokyo in Los Angeles, he performed there seven nights a week, backed by a three-piece band. Allan also performed in Las Vegas, at venues such as The Aladdin and The Sahara on the strip. Following Vegas, Allan moved back to Orange County, California to play the nightclub circuit at venues such as The Del Ray, Mama Cozza’s, The Queen Mary in Long Beach, and the LGT Vegas in Los Angeles.
Along with performing for the past 40 years, Allan has composed over 200 songs, many of which have been recorded and released nationally and internationally. Allan has also composed numerous songs for non-profit organizations such as The Ronald McDonald House in Cleveland, Ohio, The Vanished Children's Alliance, and the Relay for Life/The American Cancer Society. Allan also has songs licensed through Crucial Music out of Los Angeles, California. One of his placements is the song “I Wanna Feel Your Body” by Maria Jacobs that was featured in the Cinemax T.V. show Banshee.
Allan has worked as musical director for TV and stage productions such as the 1993 Michael Whitely film Production of “Shooting Star,” and the 2000 Darvy Traylor musical TV variety show based out of Orange County California. He has also acted as a judge for several singing competitions such as “The National Singing Star” and “Heights Got Talent” held at Cain Park.
Since moving back to Cleveland in 2009, Allan has been teaching pop voice and piano. He is currently writing and producing for many local and national recording artists. To date Allan has had 15 of his songs in rotation on local, national, and international radio programming. His original songs “We’ve Gotta Have Love” “Baby I Love You” by Ezre, “I Can’t Help but Love You” (co-written with Jonathon Hansen) and “Real Love” (co-written with Frederick and Ray Ruffin which reached #1 on the UK Soul Charts) by Frederick Davis are a few of his notable recordings.
Allan is currently writing and producing single releases on his own ABL Records label. Artists who have recorded Allan’s songs are: Terrence Burton Jr. (from the gospel group Half Mile Home), Maria Jacobs (Jazz/Smooth Jazz), Jim Witherspoon (Smooth Jazz), Ruth McCartney (Pop), Maddy Wanke (Pop), Doug Parkinson/Deborah Dotson (Australian Pop artists), Jill Stewart (Country), Astrid Pazmino (Pop/Latin), Ezre (Jazz/Soul), Megan Zurkey (Indie/Country), Arielle Gross (Pop), Jordyn Nicole (Soul), Michelle Gold (Soul), Angel P.
