Heart Posture of a Pastor

Listen Later

Pastoral ministry is often seen through what happens on the stage, preaching, teaching, leading, and caring for people. But beneath the visible work is an inner world that few people truly see: the heart posture of the pastor.

In this episode, we reflect on the realities that shape that inner world fear, calling, humility, expectation, love, responsibility, and the quiet wrestling that comes with shepherding people while still being human.

Becoming a pastor doesn’t automatically settle the heart. If anything, it exposes it. There is the weight of responsibility, the pressure of expectations, and the subtle tension between humility and entitlement that can arise in leadership. This conversation explores what it really means to remain anchored in God while navigating the daily demands of ministry.

How do pastors stay spiritually present when their days are filled with meetings, counselling, administration, and constant giving? How do they guard against burnout, emotional distance, and spiritual autopilot? And how do they keep their hearts tender, neither hardened by people nor inflated by position?

Drawing from Scripture and lived experience, this episode is an honest reflection on pastoral leadership as stewardship of people, of calling, and of the heart. A reminder that ministry does not begin with gifting, charisma, or authority, but with posture.
