As a person who fell in love with books before she could read and created stories before she could write, Marie Hobbs is an avid reader. As a woman who is a hopeful romantic, she has read a lot of romance novels. As a Christian, she searched for stories with the same values as mine. As she grew older (and wiser), it became more difficult to find characters she could relate to and books that she could enjoy from cover to cover. She wanted to see herself, her friends, and her family reflected in the books she was reading. People of color who are thriving in their careers, growing in God, and approaching life with humor and grace – as the main characters. Since she couldn’t find enough of the books she wanted to read, she started writing them. Blending real-life experiences, storylines conceived over the years, and creative license, the Unexpected Love Series was born – later-in-life inspirational romances with people of color as the main characters. The first two books in the series - Love Next Door (novella) and Better Than Good (novel) - were released in January 2023 and are available on Amazon.
