There may be much discussion about what Rahab did, when the discussion is really about whom Rahab was in fear of, not man, not Jericho, not the leaders of that city which was devoted to destruction by God, a decree which she believed. We ought to speak of the courage of Rahab, and her devotion to the God of Israel, as a testimony that God had in fact given that city over to destruction. She saw the writing on the wall, so to speak, and so she can be counted among the faithful because she saw something, believed something, and acted upon something that was not seen by those whom God had devoted to destruction. She was in this regard an Israelite.
