Listen Later

Meet Heather Carson, Director of Education, TVMA

Attorney Heather Carson represents scientists, creatives, and other small businesses as their outside general counsel, serving as a trusted advisor to protect their business.

Having spent over a decade building programs and protecting intellectual property for large institutions, Heather felt a calling to provide this same level of world class legal service to everyday business owners. Her extensive background in healthcare, science, and research brings a deeper level of legal expertise that her clients find invaluable.

Licensed in Texas and Arizona, Heather founded Carson Law Firm, PLLC based on a driving principle that protecting your business should be not cost-prohibitive. This principle combined with her total dedication to clients’ needs has helped protect and grow both early- and late-stage companies alike.

Heather works with companies in a number of industries, including technology, healthcare, research, nonprofits, design, art, and more. As an accomplished business attorney with a track record of success, her expertise provides businesses a unique perspective to their legal needs.

Heather’s legal expertise is also reflected in her credentials, which include:

  • Qualified Mediator (Texas)
  • Member of the State Bar of Texas Disability Rights Committee
  • Member of the State Bar College
  • Director, BanglaCare Foundation (Non-profit dedicated to improving health via telemedicine and health communication in Bangladesh)

Heather’s credentials and reputation for creative legal solutions have afforded her invitations to present at the AAAS (American Association for the Advancement of Science) and PRIM&R (Public Responsibility in Medicine and Research) national conferences. She has also occasionally lectured for the CLE (Continuing Legal Education) and CME (Continuing Medical Education).

Before founding Carson Law Heather Carson managed contracts for major medical institutions such as Baylor College of Medicine, as well as managed a long-running T32 grant at the University of Texas Health Science Centre San Antonio. She also worked with multinational pharmaceuticals such as Pfizer, authored grant applications to the NIH (National Institute of Health), and worked with the WHO (World Health Organization) in Geneva Switzerland.

Heather Carson completed her Bachelor’s degree at Fordham University, graduating cum laude. She is an alumnus of Texas Tech University School of Law where she was editor of “Journal of Biosafety, Biosecurity and Biodefense Law”. Officially Dr. Heather Carson, she completed her Ph.D at the University of Texas Medical Branch.
