Heather Solves Everything - Redefining Your Personal Best

Listen Later

Deepak Chopra is credited with saying that, “People are doing the best that they can from their own level of consciousness.” It’s a concept that’s been used to help us develop patience and compassion for others. I love showing patience and compassion for others. It makes me feel like a really good person, and it helps me manage my emotions and energy.

But as driven, ambitious, hard-working people, it’s a lot harder to use it as a way to develop patience and compassion with ourselves. For some reason, that rule doesn’t apply to us, does it??

Sometimes saying, “I’m doing the best that I can” sounds like an excuse, like we’re just not trying hard enough. But while I am a firm believer that we can all do anything we set our minds to, we can’t do it all at the same time. There is a limit to what we can do sometimes. And in all cases, we are doing the best that we can considering the time, energy, and attention that we can give.

Listen for:

  • How to reframe the self-talk that tells you that your best isn’t good enough.
  • How to set boundaries that allow you to do your best work.
  • How to show yourself the same compassion and patience that you show to others.
