  • Interview with DAN AVIDAN & JIM ROACH of Shadow Academy

Kyle Pepitone and Nate Williams sat down with Dan Avidan and Jim Roach to talk about their latest musical project Shadow Academy as well as their other upcoming musical projects.
After spending years together in the studio working in a producer / artist capacity with musical duo Ninja Sex Party, Jim Roach and Dan Avidan realized they had a shared affinity for many older bands that all shared themes of big music, big guitars, and even bigger songs. During the early months of COVID-19, Jim started sending Dan new music to work on mainly to pass some time, and in turn, Dan would work on lyrics and melodies that were primarily inspired by the classic books he was spending his downtime reading. From Dracula to Moby Dick, many of the song themes were inspired by these classics, as seen with the debut single "White Whale." "After writing our first song, "White Whale," together we knew we were onto something special" recalls Jim - and thus Shadow Academy was born.

  • Interview with Logan Tabor of AllThePrettyThings

Wilmington, North Carolina-based alltheprettythings has combined musicians from bands you might know to make music you would not expect. The multitude of styles and influences that go into these songs will change the way you look at rock music.   Anthemic tracks dominate their body of work. “Teenage Lines” soaring sonics and vocal urgency contrasts in some ways with the warm, familiar nature of “Careful Girls (Little Love)” but both have a signature complexity that marks the band’s music.   What keeps the band inspired is their friendship and like-minded senses of humor. While recording, band members named unfinished songs after lines from their shared favorite movies. From Ace Ventura, Pet Detective to That Thing You Do!, the members grew up with so many of the same cultural references that made their way into their jokes and – more importantly - their music.  For the members of alltheprettythings this journey is one of friends that are family and keeping the creative process enjoyable for them – and the listener!
