In the Scriptures, we do not merely hear from angels, but from the Lord Himself. Jesus Christ has been elevated above the angels, such that even they must offer worship to Him. In Christ, we are offered a greater salvation and greater blessings than were previously known. To neglect the greater salvation is to invite greater judgment than previously known. Have you been drifting? Have you neglected the everyday practices of prayer, Bible reading, and meditation? Have you treated sin as a trivial thing? Have you been looking inside yourself instead of to Christ? Have you neglected the corporate worship of the church? The solution is as simple as it is clear – if we are to avoid drift, we must pay much closer attention to the things we have heard. We must never stop paying attention to the glory of His person and the eternal value of His work. To do anything else is the source of all laziness, drifting, and apostacy. God will not leave these things unpunished. So, look to Christ, and to Christ alone, the author and perfecter of our faith.
