* his is one of the most important things you can learn about your new identity.
* This goes back to a man named Melchizedek, who was the king-priest of a nation called Salem.
* The writer of Hebrews used him to prove Christ’s authority is king and high priest.
* Why? Because believing Jews were going back into Judaism with its emphasis on religion where priests offer sacrifices, etc.
* Vs 1-3 - he had no genealogy, which was figurative for him having no beginning and no end.
* Jesus came in the order of Melchizedek, not Aaron, and is the ultimate high priest. But He also reigns as king.
* What is it about king priests?
* As kings we have dominion, authority, rule, and power!
* As priests we have mercy, forgiveness, empathy, and passion!
* David in the OT was a picture of a king-priest.
* He sat in the position of king with the heart of a priest.
* This is how we do incredible work - we work like kings with the hearts of priests.
