Hebrews 8 Discussion

“Obsolete” can sound like “throw it away,” and that’s where so many people get stuck with Hebrews 8. We sit down with the text and slow it all the way down: Jesus is our High Priest, seated at the right hand of God, serving in the true tabernacle God set up. That picture isn’t just theology, it’s relief. A seated Savior means the work that makes us right with God is finished, not something we keep paying for with anxiety, effort, or religious performance.

From there we tackle the big questions Hebrews raises about the old covenant and the Old Testament. We talk through Jeremiah 31, exile, covenant curses, and why the “fault” wasn’t God’s law but the people who couldn’t keep it. Then we lean into what makes the new covenant better: God’s repeated “I will” promises, his law written on hearts and minds, a real “you belong to me” relationship, and mercy so complete that he remembers sins no more.

We also explore how this connects to Israel, Judah, Samaritans, and the nations, and why Acts 8 matters for seeing the gospel’s reach. If you’ve ever wondered how law and grace fit together, why the tabernacle shows up in Hebrews, or how to stop white knuckling your faith, this conversation is for you. Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs hope, and leave a review with the promise from Hebrews 8 that you’re most thankful for.
