Hebrews – A Call to Commitment:
                                “  The Majestic Christ”

                                           Hebrews 1:1-3

•  He opens with the variety and validity of the OT message: 2 Tim 3:16-17

Seven facts Illustrate the Majesty of Christ:

    1.      Jesus Is the Son of God

• Jesus is God; the only way to God. Jn. 14:6

   
    2.     Jesus Is the Heir of all things

•   He is thinking of Ps. 2:7-8
•  Paul says we are also heirs: Rom. 8:17

   
   3.     Jesus is the Creator of the universe:  Jn. 1:1-3

 

   4.      Jesus is Radiance of God’s Glory

•  The glory now shines from the Son: John 1:14

 

  5.     Jesus is the Exact Image of God’s Nature

•  He is like a minted coin or wax seal: Col. 1:15

 

  6.     Jesus is the Cosmic Sustainer

•  Jesus holds everything together:  Col. 1:17
• God did not create and then let things be: Isa 40:28-31

 

 7.      Jesus Completed the Work of Salvation

•  He was both the priest presiding over the sacrifice and the sacrifice: Lev 16:30
• Jesus was the final sacrifice: John 19:30
• He sits at the place of authority: Eph. 1:20-22
