Text Hebrews 3:7-19.
Many “testings” in the Bible occurred in the wilderness. Sometimes it is God’s people testing God. And sometimes it is God’s people being tested in the wilderness.
Why did such momentous occasions occur in the wilderness? In this lesson we learn that the “fathers” of Israel tested God in the wilderness for 40 years. All during those years, they saw God’s works and abundant provisions. However, they griped, grumbled, hardened their hearts, and became rebellious. Today, let us remember that we who share in Christ can recognize the "wilderness" of trial and choose to lean on the Lord and on each other.
