Every evening, a little hedgehog visits his friend, a bear cub, to drink tea and count the stars together. One night, while walking through the forest to reach Bear’s house, the hedgehog notices a beautiful white horse standing silently in the distance — but it is surrounded by thick fog. Curious, he wonders whether the horse might drown if it goes into the nearby river, and decides to get a closer look.
As he enters the fog, everything becomes unfamiliar and dreamlike. He loses his sense of direction. Strange sounds echo around him. He meets odd creatures — an owl, a bat, a snail — and even falls into a river, where a mysterious silent fish helps carry him safely to shore. The fog feels both frightening and magical, like stepping into the unknown.
Eventually, the hedgehog finds his way out of the fog and reaches Bear’s home. Bear has been worried, waiting with tea and raspberry jam. The hedgehog finally sits down, still thinking about the horse in the mist, and the two friends begin counting stars as usual.
