In this episode, we discuss the Prison Notebooks of Antonio Gramsci, an Italian revolutionary imprisoned in the 1930s. Gramsci argued that States do not primarily rely on physical force to control their subjects. Instead, States rule with hegemony- they persuade their subjects to consent to being ruled.
