Hi everyone! Thank you for tuning in to Time for English.
Are you familiar with the expression "help yourself"? You may have heard this phrase when you're invited to dinner by a friend. There's a whole bunch of food on the table and your host says "Help yourself". That means "Enjoy your meal". In other words, you can eat, without asking, to your heart's content.
If you want to be more specific about what's offered to eat or drink, you can do so by using the preposition "to". For example, help yourself to some coffee. Help yourself to some ice creasm. Help yourself to anything in the fridge.
In fact, you can use this phrase for offering anything. It doesn't have to be food or drink. For example, your friend says, "Can I use your phone?" If it's okay, you can say, "Sure, help yourself".
Now, would you like to practice together? Please repeat after me:
Help yourself.
