This is the issue addressed by author and ex senior probation officer Pamela R
Haynes in her novels which were published on 27 th July 2022.
Loving The Sisters, a sequel to her first novel Loving The Brothers which was
published in 2018. In Part 2 of the story, Patti, Charmaine and Rose form an alliance
in Jamaica and agree to support each other when they return to the UK. But with
warnings from celestial beings and Veronica dreaming about ‘fish', the women
experience doubts.
By far the riskiest time for any woman in a violent relationship is when she decides to
escape. Are the women able to bring their plans into fruition and exit their
relationships on Christmas Day?
Loving The Sisters is about Love, Sisterhood and Loyalty. The aim of this book is to
raise awareness of the different forms of domestic abuse and the role the probation
service plays in safeguarding victims of abuse.
The author says: ‘Stories are written about the police service and other criminal
justice agencies. It is about time somebody wrote about the probation service and
the crucial work they do to safeguard survivors of domestic abuse.'
Pamela R Haynes is a retired Senior Probation Officer. She has previously worked
as a domestic abuse programme facilitator and with survivors of domestic violence.
In 2018 Pam was awarded Author of the Year and Author of Colour for her debut
novel Loving The Brothers and shortlisted for a BLAC Best Writer award 2020.
Recipient of The Powerhouse Global Women's Award 2022 for her work raising
awareness of domestic abuse through her books and a Finalist for a Baton Award in

the Paulette Wilson Campaigner category 2022. Pamela was awarded a Fellow from
the Royal Society of Arts in March 2023.
Shortlisted for a Black Girls Who Write Lit Award in 4 categories, Best Black

In June 2023 Pam was invited to become a research fellow at the University of East
London. Dr. Emma Cunningham a senior lecturer in Criminology at UEL said that
‘The academic staff here at UEL are delighted to have a local author with criminal
justice expertise and insight that Pam is happy to share with our research and
student community and we are sure that she will ,as a UEL Research Fellow,
continue to speak to issues of (in)equality, community and social justice along with
members of the Policing Innovation Enterprise and Learning (PIEL) Research
Group'.
On International Women's Day 2021, Pam launched The Author 2 Author Podcast.
She interviews Self Published Authors from around the world.
