Laurie Heacock, Senior Advisor at Achieving the Dream (ATD), joins this episode of Illuminate Higher Education to talk about how Achieving the Dream, a nonprofit organization, helps community colleges serve diverse student populations and achieve equitable student outcomes at scale.

Laurie’s work with ATD focuses on community colleges with highly diverse student populations. In this episode, she discusses how they work with institutions to build equity-minded policies and procedures that encourage student success. She explains how key early momentum metrics can predict student outcomes and how those metrics can inform better decision-making throughout the college.

You’ll also learn how ATD’s large cohort of educational institutions serve as a peer learning network, connecting colleges with resources and coaches. This large-scale effort helps community colleges take a more holistic approach to the student experience by using data to uncover gaps and inequities, and leveraging those insights into meaningful change.
