I chat with NICU nurse Tricia Cady in this episode of Nursing Notes Live. She’s a nurse who’s been working with premature and sick newborns for 10 years of her 22-year nursing career.  After recently completing a nursing course to further her education, Tricia was inspired to turn her nursing innovation idea into a reality in order to improve the way nurses secure neonates’ hands and help avoid accidental extubations.

She developed a working prototype of the Cady Hug – a stretchy, womblike vest that allows for active arm movement while preventing the baby from pulling on his or her wires – that is now ready for development and testing.  Listen to find out how she brought her innovative idea to life to help improve outcomes for these vulnerable infants.
