"Henderson Crime Roundup: Alleged Animal Cruelty, Shootings, and Property Crimes"

Listen Later

In the past week, Henderson Police responded to several notable criminal incidents across the city. In the Inspirada neighborhood, officers arrested a suspect in connection with alleged animal cruelty after a small dog was found inside a trash bag in a public area. The case remains active pending further investigation and review by the district attorney’s office, as reported by KTNV, and police are not seeking public assistance at this time.

Near the intersection of Boulder Highway and Galleria Drive, there was an alleged shooting incident involving a woman’s ex-boyfriend. The suspect reportedly fired at the woman’s vehicle, and a juvenile passenger was injured as a result. The victim’s attorney confirmed that the juvenile sustained a non-life-threatening leg injury. Henderson Police have made an arrest in this case, and the investigation is ongoing. No additional suspects are being sought.

In an incident reported in the Green Valley area earlier in the week, patrol officers responded to a call involving an alleged home burglary. Officers arriving on scene found signs of forced entry and property reported missing by the homeowner. Police stated the incident is still under investigation with no arrests announced and urge anyone with information to come forward.

On Sunset Road near Arroyo Grande, Henderson Police were called to investigate an alleged motor vehicle burglary. Officers received reports of several vehicles being broken into during overnight hours. No suspects have been detained, and the incidents remain under investigation by the property crimes unit.

A separate case in the Whitney Ranch vicinity involved an alleged assault and battery late Friday evening. Officers responded to a disturbance at a commercial parking lot where a male victim reported being assaulted by an unknown suspect who fled on foot. The victim received minor injuries. According to police, the case is under investigation and they are requesting public assistance in identifying a male suspect described as approximately 6 feet tall, thin build, wearing a gray hoodie and dark jeans.

HPD also responded to an alleged shoplifting incident at a retail center on Stephanie Street. Security staff reported a suspect concealing merchandise and leaving the premises without payment. Officers were able to locate and detain the individual nearby; an arrest was made and the merchandise was recovered. This case has been referred to the city attorney for review.

Overall for the week, the city experienced a mix of alleged property crimes, assaults, and incidents involving firearms. Notably, police are actively seeking public help only for the suspect in the Friday evening assault in Whitney Ranch and ask that anyone with information contact the Henderson Police at their non-emergency line or Crime Stoppers.

A review of recent reports shows no significant pattern of violent crime escalation citywide, though there is a continuing trend of motor vehicle burglaries occurring in residential neighborhoods overnight.
