Henry’s Tape

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.

Welcome back to Henry's Tape.

If any of you guys have kept up with my musical ventures in the past, last week's tune was probably to be expected, a kind of bedroom pop, shoegaze kind of vibe. We're taking a turn into something a bit heavier this week. Of course I am not abandoning my lo-fi credentials and the whole thing is dripping in tape hiss with all mistakes left in.

If you can decipher what I'm saying through the noise, there's a bit of social commentary about when so called 'wellness' turns into something more narcissistic or, dare I say, fascistic. I'm thinking about spiritual bypassing and maybe even getting into Stewart Home or Naomi Klein territory if that's your jam.

Catch you in two weeks for something a bit lighter x

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.

Ok everyone, welcome to Henry's Tape. The idea is I'm going to try to record a demo of a song every two weeks and stick it on here as a kind of songwriting diary to keep me making music. I imagine if you're listening to this, it's most likely because you know me and I've let you know about it so thanks for checking it out.

As promised, I have a song. This one is about a relationship that had to come to an end and how we crossed paths again at a party and it tore me up. So, Pasha, this one's for you.

Catch you guys in a fortnight for another tune x

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.

This is Henry's Tape, a lo-fi demo every two weeks, tape hiss and all.

This bi-weekly podcast is my songwriting diary. It keeps me making (and finishing) music. Synth-pop one time, thrash guitar the next. All made with my trusty Tascam 4-track cassette recorder.

No social media or music streaming, just the podcast and word of mouth.

First song out Friday 18th September.
