In December of 2000, a motorist driving in Parley's Canyon spotted the body of 75 year old Herbert John Strehl. Strehl was a German immigrant and business owner in Salt Lake City. Although police were aware of some civil disputes Strehl was involved in, nobody suspected he would be the victim of homicide.
