Hermetic Tradition: Osiris to Franklin

Hermes to His Son - Lecture 1

Listen Later

In this presentation, Roger brings the Hermetic tradition to a powerful point of culmination, exploring consciousness as an undifferentiated field that takes form through images, ideas, and shared realizations—first in individuals, then across entire civilizations. Tracing the emergence of collective spiritual awakenings from ancient cities to the Roman world, the talk centers on Saint John as the historical focus of a vast transformation whose impact radiated through Alexandria, giving rise to Hermeticism, Gnosticism, early Christianity, and texts such as The Poimandres. Through close readings of the Hermetic dialogues of Hermes and Thoth—especially The Basin—the lecture unfolds the origins of gnosis, rebirth, and the baptism of mind, revealing humanity’s unique role as the conscious center of the cosmos. Moving from image and form into the incorporeal, from instinct into mind, and from nature’s cycles into spiritual realization, the presentation culminates in the great Hermetic hymn of rebirth: a vision of man as both contemplator and savior of the cosmos, awakened through wonder, awe, and the living presence of divine mind.
