Episode 9— Herod was a king who feared losing power more than losing his soul.
In this episode of Characters of Christmas, we turn our attention to Herod the Great, a ruler who believed the Scriptures enough to fear them, but not enough to obey them. When confronted with the news of a child born King of the Jews, his response was not worship, but resistance and violence. Herod reminds us that the greatest opposition to Christ is not political, but personal—and that Christmas ultimately asks whether we are willing to yield our own throne to the true King.
