Zach Bardon was just an ordinary student, until he found a special amulet that granted him the powers of the night. Now, he protects his city. He is: Nightshade.

Previously, Nightshade and Airheart tracked the energy signature of the strange weapons to the outskirts of San Diego, where they found the mysterious girl awaiting them. After a vicious battle, they emerged victorious, but the girl was badly wounded. Hoping to save her, Airheart flew off to bring her to a hospital, and Nightshade, having once again defied the three beings pulling the strings, felt the world fading away.
