In this moving and faith-filled message, Pastor Tommy Boring draws from Colossians 3:3 to reveal the powerful truth of what it means to be “hid with Christ in God.” Though the verse may seem contradictory, it speaks of a spiritual reality. The old man is dead, and through salvation, we are made alive in Christ. Our true life is now hidden, protected, and secured in Him.
Pastor Tommy emphasizes that being hidden in Christ is not something earned. It is a gift. When a person is saved, they are brought into the family of God and placed in a position the enemy cannot touch apart from God’s will. In that place, there is strength, peace, and protection that goes beyond anything this world can offer.
Using the powerful example of Moses, the message illustrates what it means to be hidden by God. As a child, Moses was hidden by his parents to protect him from destruction. Later, God continued to hide him, first in Pharaoh’s house, then in the wilderness, preparing him for a greater purpose. This becomes a picture of what believers are called to do for others, especially their children.
A central theme of the sermon is the responsibility to “hide” others in Christ through prayer. While we cannot control the choices of those we love or shield them from every hardship, we can take them to God daily. Parents, grandparents, and the church are called to stand in the gap, praying for protection, salvation, and guidance. Just as Moses was placed in a basket and committed to God’s care, we are to entrust those we love into His hands.
Pastor Tommy reminds us that physical protection has limits, but spiritual covering through prayer is powerful and effective. Even when children grow older or drift away, the call remains the same. Do not stop praying. Do not stop believing. Keep placing them before God, trusting Him to work in ways we cannot see.
The message also highlights the role of the church in this calling. There are many, both young and old, who cannot “hide themselves” spiritually. They are vulnerable, lost, or searching. The church has the privilege and responsibility to lift them up in prayer, love them, and point them to Christ until they come to know Him personally.
Pastor Tommy shares heartfelt testimony of seeing lives begin to change because someone faithfully prayed. Children who had never been in church are now hearing the Word of God and experiencing His presence. This is the result of persistent, believing prayer. What we cannot do, God can.
At its core, this sermon is about dependence on God and the assurance of His protection. Those who are in Christ are truly secure. When God looks at His children, He sees them through His Son. That is the safest place to be.
This message is both a comfort and a challenge. Be thankful if someone has prayed for you and helped “hide” you in Christ. Then take up that same responsibility for others. Keep praying. Keep trusting. Keep hiding them in Him until the day they come to know the Father for themselves.
