The bright sun shone through the window to wake you from your slumber as you pulled yourself out of dreamland and sat up to greet the day. The luscious silk sheets were soft and comfortable against your skin, no wonder you slept so long. When you felt to your right, you noticed the other half of the bed empty. You sat up and pulled yourself out of bed as you took a look outside the window. It was a bright sunny day in Latvia, so your mini vacation was not ruined. The slight laughter of children running to school and light traffic was not enough to annoy you this morning as you went to the closet and put on a brocade velvet robe that you could snuggle in. You could notice cutlery noises coming from outside the bedroom and you followed the noise to see Helmut Zemo himself, fixing up things in the kitchen. Oeznik was not present so she assumed he sent the butler to another task. “Good morning Baron.” He turned from his task and gave a sultry smile. “Good morning dorogoy (darling). Sleep well?” “Very much so. This is turning out to be some vacation. Where is Oeznik?” “He went to the market to buy some things so I can give us a proper dinner tonight.” You wander to the coffee table in the room and look at the book on the table. “What book are you reading today?” “Machiavelli, a classic.” You take a seat on the couch and not long after, Zemo brings a tray with some tea and an intricate Fabre egg-shaped container. “Want some cherry blossom tea?” “Yes thank you. What’s in there?” He pulled the top off and took out a small candy. “Turkish delight….it was my son’s favorite…” You knew he missed his son and wife very much but at least he was able to find some peace. “Thank you for bringing me here; it’s quite lovely.” “Thank you for coming, I adore your company dorogoy.” After pouring your tea and giving you a candy, Zemo got up and went over to a record player that he turned on. Suddenly, the room was filled with classical music, blending nicely with the sounds outside the apartment. “You have good taste Baron. We should do this more often.” “Yes….yes we should.” He came to sit next to you and you both relished in each other’s company as you focused on the tranquil music.
