High-Performer's & Workaholism: How It Might Be Helping You and Hurting You

Listen Later

For people that identify as being high-achievers, there is a constant tension between knowing when we’re working too much, and when we’re not working enough to achieve our goals.  A word that gets tossed around sometimes, is the work “workaholic”, which is this idea that our work becomes a sort of addiction.

In today's episode, I'm with my friend and super smart dude Uriah Guilford, where we talk about workaholism and go through these questions and more:

  • What is workaholism? (commonly held definitions)
  • What’s the difference between workaholism and being just a hard worker?
  • What are the signs of workaholism?
  • Why does workaholism happen?
  • What might be the upsides of workaholism?
  • Why is workaholism bad for your relationship, family, physical health, etc.  And what happens if it’s not addressed?
  • Any action steps for someone that feels they might be struggling with this?  Or for a family member of someone who might be a workaholic?

Questions like these, and many more are the focus of today’s conversation on The Business of Connection. Today, I interview my friend Uriah Guilford…..Uriah is a multi-business owner, and Business Made Simple certified executive coach.  In our conversation today, we discuss the pros of working too much, the cons, and how to assess where you’re at in your own life around this topic. I’m really excited to share this episode with you and I hope you get something from it!
