High Temp SLA Cookie Cutter and Til Pitha (Indian Dessert) | F3DPS Ep 3.06

Listen Later

We shot this podcast back in November (some elements are from August). Despite the late upload, we were excited to share this one!

Cookie cutters aren't new to 3d printing, but we'd never designed one before. While designing a custom cookie cutter for Impact Dakota, Eric made an emoji cutter just for fun.
With cleanliness in mind, we made a high temp SLA cookie cutter as well to see if we could make it sanitary without melting it. We didn't put it in the dishwasher, but we did boil it. Despite slight warping which was probably avoidable, it boiled just fine! High Temp resin isn't foodsafe but after talking with Formlabs, we felt safe using it for this purpose.

One of our summer interns (Rit) tried to make a device to aid in making Til Pitha, an Indian dessert. It's similar to a crepe or cannoli, but made out of rice powder and sesame seeds. It needs to be round and flat, so he modified a pancake pourer with 3D printed parts. Unfortunately, two iterations wasn't enough and Rit had to go back to school. Still had some fun and learned along the way!
