🚨 HIGH WIND WARNING - Missouri Weather 3/14 - Evening

Listen Later

Good evening. Missouri. I'm Michael Mosby.
Here's the breakdown for the next 24 to 36 hours.
As the sun sets. Western Missouri, you'll see clouds increase today ahead of the main event, while tonight stays mild with a low around 57. The action starts Sunday morning. Rain showers are likely before 3 P.M., then the cold air crashes in. We could see a quick changeover to snow showers by late afternoon as temperatures plummet from 60 to 36. The big story is the wind, northwest winds will gust up to 52 miles an hour. Sunday night, any moisture changes to snow with blowing snow possible, the low drops to 14. Wind chills could reach minus 14 degrees.
Eastern Missouri, you've the best chance for seeing strong to severe storms Sunday. A slight chance of thunderstorms exists between 10 A.M. and noon. Rain becomes widespread by the afternoon with a high near 67. The cold front sweeps through Sunday evening, changing rain to snow before 10 P.M. It gets cold fast. Low temperatures drop to 21, but with 20 to 28 mile an hour winds, it will feel much harsher. Monday brings a chance of flurries before 7 A.M, with a high near 29.
Down in Southwest Missouri, rain showers develop after 8 A.M. Sunday. You hit a high near 64 early, then temperatures crash into the 40s by the afternoon. Rain changes to snow showers between 7 P.M. and 1 A.M. Sunday night. Accumulations look light, generally less than half an inch, the issue is the wind. Northwest gusts to 45 miles an hour will make it feel brutal, while lows Sunday night plunge to 16.
Looking ahead. Looking at the week ahead. Monday is brutally cold. Highs struggle to reach 30 degrees with wind chills near zero in the morning. But the cold doesn't stick, we warm back into the 50s on Tuesday. Then, get this. We surge into the 70s on Wednesday, by Thursday and Friday, highs climb into the low 80s. That's a 50 degrees temperature swing in just four days.
