High pressure is sliding offshore today, that shifts our wind flow out of the south. This draws up warmth and moisture from the Gulf of Mexico, we get a big warm-up Sunday. But it also sets the stage for a powerful storm system Monday.
As the sun sets. Tonight looks mostly cloudy. Lows stay mild. Southeast Pennsylvania drops to 37 degrees, while western Pennsylvania is warmer at 39. Central Pennsylvania cools to 34. You'll feel a breeze from the north at 5 to 15 miles an hour.
Sunday brings a surge of warm air, western Pennsylvania sees the warmest conditions. Highs there reach 70 degrees, southeast Pennsylvania tops out near 57. Central Pennsylvania hits 54 under mostly cloudy skies, it will be breezy. South winds gust to 25 miles an hour in the southeast.
The weather turns active Sunday night, rain showers arrive after 8 P.M. Temperatures actually rise overnight, southeast Pennsylvania warms to 57 degrees by dawn. Western Pennsylvania climbs to 59, central Pennsylvania reaches 54. Rain becomes widespread. Expect a tenth to a quarter of an inch of rain.
Monday is a day to watch closely, a strong cold front crosses the state. Showers and thunderstorms are likely, southeastern Pennsylvania could see severe weather. Highs reach 68 degrees there, western Pennsylvania hits 64. Central Pennsylvania tops out at 66, winds will be strong. South winds gust to 40 miles an hour in the southeast, while this could cause damage.
Monday night brings a dramatic change, colder air rushes in behind the front. Rain changes to snow showers, southeast Pennsylvania drops to 31 degrees. Western Pennsylvania plummets to 23, central Pennsylvania falls to 26. Winds shift to the southwest and remain gusty.
Tuesday is much colder, highs struggle to reach 39 degrees in the southeast. Western Pennsylvania only hits 31, central Pennsylvania tops out at 33. It will feel blustery, west winds gust to 20 miles an hour. Skies clear Tuesday night, lows drop into the 20s statewide.
Wednesday looks sunny but chilly, highs reach 41 degrees in the southeast. Western Pennsylvania hits 41, central Pennsylvania reaches 38. It stays dry.
Looking ahead to the rest of the week, while thursday is mostly cloudy. Highs range from 49 to 51 degrees, friday brings a mix of sun and clouds. Highs climb into the mid-50s, there's a slight chance of rain Friday night.
