Hilton Head is in South Carolina's "lowcountry" (low-lying coastal region). The native state of the area, with its abundant natural beauty, is maintained. This includes trees and pathways lined with enormous Cypress and Magnolia trees as well as lush vegetation. Salt marshes, freshwater marshes, wetland forests and tidal zones are well preserved for the plentiful wildlife.
