  • Chapter 17: Loss & Grief

In this deeply personal chapter of Living HIPP, Pam explores one of life's most difficult yet universal experiences: loss and grief.

The last decade brought significant loss for Pam as she navigated the challenges of midlife and the sandwich generation, caring for aging and ill parents, saying goodbye to loved ones, and simultaneously raising teenagers and college-aged children.

Life brings both joy and pain, and the two can coexist. Living your best life doesn't mean dismissing the difficult moments. It means learning to navigate them while continuing to create a life filled with love, purpose, and meaning.

Trigger Warning: Pam shares the heartbreaking story of suddenly losing her father when she was in her 20s. He was just 55 years old. Through this deeply emotional and inspiring reflection, she explores how that life-changing moment shaped who she became, the choices she made, and the way she approached life moving forward.

While Pam first shared this experience in her book, this chapter takes listeners even deeper into her journey, offering new perspectives and reflections on what it means to find your way out of the valley and learn to live, love, and lead through life's greatest challenges.

Grief doesn't follow a timeline. There are no rules, and there is no simply "getting over it." Instead, we learn to live with loss, carry the memories, and discover that healing is possible, even when the grief never fully disappears.

Ultimately, this chapter is a powerful reminder of what it truly means to Live HIPP: to embrace your best life, not only for yourself and those you love, but also in honor of those who are no longer with us physically, yet remain forever in our hearts and spirits.

  • Chapter 16: The Alcohol Free Lifestyle

This chapter of Living HIPP dives into a topic many women think about but don't talk about nearly enough: Alcohol & Women, especially at midlife.

The truth is, our relationship with alcohol can become more complicated as we age, and menopause can make it even more challenging. For many of us, alcohol has been woven into nearly every part of life. We celebrate with it, unwind with it, socialize with it, manage stress with it, and sometimes turn to it when navigating grief, sadness, or the demands of a busy life.

In this deeply personal episode, Pam opens up about her own relationship with alcohol and how, for years, having a drink became something she looked forward to at the end of each day. It was her way of calming her nerves, relaxing, and decompressing. But as she entered midlife, her body began responding differently, and deep down, she knew something needed to change.

Pam began her journey by exploring mindful drinking and moderation. For a time, that approach worked for her. But as life presented new challenges, she discovered just how difficult moderation could be. Eventually, she realized she didn't simply want to drink less. She wanted to reach a place where she no longer wanted alcohol at all.

Today, Pam embraces an alcohol-free lifestyle, having found a sense of freedom that came not from punishment or restriction, but from empowerment, personal growth, and making choices that truly support the life she wants to live.

What makes Pam's approach different is her commitment to removing the labels, shame, and judgment that so often surround conversations about drinking. She believes there is room for everyone in this conversation, whether you drink, drink occasionally, want to cut back, or have chosen to stop altogether.

Through her Living HIPP journey, becoming alcohol-free has been one of the most meaningful transformations of her 50s.

In this episode, she shares the progressive approach and personal tool she developed along the way, rooted in her belief that progress matters more than perfection and that finding freedom is a journey that takes time, intention, and the right steps.

While Pam does not claim to be an expert in this field, she brings a lifetime of personal experience, more than a decade of exploring a positive approach to drinking, and a genuine understanding of the challenges many women face.

Traditional approaches never resonated with her, although she recognizes that different methods work for different people.

She also knows there are countless women who may not identify as having a drinking problem but quietly wonder whether they're drinking more than they'd like. Women who want to feel better, regain control, cut back, or perhaps step away from alcohol entirely.

For years, Pam's personal transformation around alcohol was a private part of her Living HIPP journey. Now, she's ready to share her story, the lessons she's learned, and the empowering perspective that helped her redefine her relationship with drinking.

This is not a conversation about judgment, labels, or what anyone should or shouldn't do. It's about awareness, choice, personal empowerment, and discovering what freedom can look like for you.

  • Chapter 15: Collaboration over Competition

This chapter begins with more of the history behind the Living HIPP journey and how it can lead to dreams coming true, better living, and creating a life, home, and family you love. It also addresses the reality that adversity happens, challenges arise, and unexpected circumstances are part of life. What matters is how we continue to navigate them.

This episode explores the importance of Collaboration when it comes to women working together, whether in business, communities, or everyday life, and how collaboration has been fundamental to the Living HIPP brand.

Pam has had an incredible passion for this topic. After working with women and leading teams of women for 30 years, she has experienced firsthand the power of collaboration, not only in business but also in life.

However, not everyone embraces this spirit. In this chapter of Living HIPP, Pam shares an example of how this impacted her personally while starting a new business and the fallout that followed. The story goes beyond the brand or company she was involved with. It serves as a teachable moment about the importance of women supporting one another and how we, as women, can do better.

This chapter also explores just how powerful collaboration can be, as Pam shares her own experiences of women coming together, supporting one another, and lifting each other up.

  • Chapter 14- Living HIPP Book: A Decade Later

Episode 4 takes us into Chapter 14, where we move beyond learning about HIPP and see how this brand came to life a decade later.

Pam shares her personal journey of how she came up with HIPP, how she used it and taught it, and how profound its impact became in her own life a decade later. HIPP is a proven framework, and while life during that next decade got Messy (because life does that), it was also Magical, filled with incredible Milestones and dreams coming true.

These real-life examples demonstrate the HIPP Lifestyle, a brand centered around Personal Growth, building an authentic Personal Brand, and creating more in our lives while learning how to navigate challenges along the way.

You are going to hear about several of Pam's lifelong dreams coming true, how Vision and Belief work together, and how Pam manifested many things through this work. She also shares an important part of the journey: not everything happened as planned.

  • Chapters 11-14 Living HIPP Book

Chapter 11 delves into Happiness as a Practice. Much of what we do in Living HIPP centers around daily rituals and practices. Happiness is not a place we arrive at; it is a way of being. It is about understanding Happiness as a Choice and intentionally creating more of it in our everyday lives.

Chapter 12 talks about the importance of Productivity and how it can help us create more balance. This is not about a "hustle more" lifestyle. In fact, it is about living more intentionally and working smarter, not harder. You will learn practical tips and tools to become more productive in both your work and home life.

Chapter 13 brings in the balance piece and explores how to create more Peace in Your Life. This is a big part of Living HIPP. We redirect people away from racing and chasing and toward a more regulated nervous system. It's about living intentionally, creating daily practices for self-care, taking time to rest and restore, and simplifying the demands placed on modern-day women.

  • Chapters 7-10 Living HIPP Book

Chapter 7 gets into the importance of Becoming Your Higher Self. This is not about changing who you are. It is about knowing who you are and rising into the best version of yourself, not the perfect version of yourself.

Chapter 8 is where we learn to Cast a Vision for Our Life. This is so important to personal growth. It is about having a vision and knowing how to cast that vision for your life, not just for the big things, but also for the season you are currently in.

Chapter 9 goes on to talk about how to Build Alignment and Belief, making sure your vision aligns with your values while also understanding the importance of belief. Belief is essential to opening a portal to potentiality. It is not only a mindset, but a spirit as well.

In Chapter 10, we talk about the Importance of Mentors. Having mentors in your life, and throughout the different seasons of your life, is part of this lifestyle. In return, we also become mentors to others. We believe that we all have something to learn, and we all have something to teach.

  • Chapters 1-6 Living HIPP Book

Welcome to the HIPP Life Podcast. This podcast is a place for you to learn how to build a life you love.

As a gift to our listeners, I have decided to share the audiobook Living HIPP throughout the episodes in the week ahead. HIPP is a book I originally wrote in 2012. The first half of the book contains the original content and premises of HIPP, while the second half has been updated to share my personal experiences and how HIPP became a framework for living my best life and inspiring others to do the same.

Episode 1 is going to be a great opportunity for you to learn about Living HIPP and its pillars. I dedicate the book and share a brief introduction, so be sure to take it all in.

Chapter 1 gets into the definition of HIPP: Happy, Inspired, Passionate, Peaceful. While I provide the context, you are able to define what HIPP means for you. This is about embracing this brand as a way of life, one that is curated by you and for you, all while learning more about the framework and spirit behind the brand.

Chapter 2 gets into the Power of Choice. This is such a powerful concept to understand and embrace. The truth is that every day, we have a choice. We have a choice around our mindset, our attitude, and our actions. Understanding this helps us let go of the things we don't have control over and focus on what we do. This is a big part of HIPP.

Chapter 3 talks about the realness of life and how messy it can get. The chapter is called "When Life Happens," and this is such an important part of creating a HIPP life. We keep it real, yet we are not simply realists. We are dreamers. We navigate our journey while also preparing for impact during the times when things happen that are outside of our control.

Chapter 4 is about Leading Your Life with Love. This brand is different. It has a spirit, an energy, and a soul. Love is a big part of how we live, and leading ourselves, our lives, our families, our teams, and our communities with love is an important part of making a difference.

In Chapter 5, we Ignite Our Passion. We talk about the importance of passion and how it can connect to our purpose. As women, we tend to get busy and go on autopilot. This chapter is a reminder to live more mindfully, with spirit, conviction, and a sense of purpose in both the small and big moments of our lives.

  • Commiting to the Decision

Commitment is when you do the activity and stick with it to reach an envisioned result or desired outcome. If there's something you're working on in your life; could be a health goal, a personal goal, a professional goal, whatever it is, commitment is part of the game. We need to commit. We need to decide we're going to do it. We're going to build our life around this thing we're looking to achieve. Commitment is the decision that helps us to create results in our lives.

Let's look at the ways we commit to our decisions on this episode of Living HIPP.
