What was a perfectly respectable question just a few short years ago, today is an interview questions not to ask a candidate. And the rules are changing every day. So what was acceptable in your state just a few months ago, today in on the list of interview questions not to ask. A good rule of thumb is to ask yourself before asking a question, do I need this information to determine if the person can do the job. If the answer is no or probably not, you might want to consider adding it to the list of interview questions to avoid asking.

Bad interview questions are often asked out of ignorance, but that doesn’t mean you won’t be asked. You might want to plan a little ahead of time about illegal interview questions and how to answer them. One of the biggest issues currently revolves around salary. You might want to plan ahead how to respond to salary questions in an interview so when someone asks inappropriate interview questions, you have an answer and are not left there staring that they even asked.
