Hong Kong was once the ownership of the British empire. The empire overwhelmed the Chinese with industrialism, money, and firepower. The British ran Shanghai until the Japanese Imperialist became the new conquerors by means of their aeroplanes and tanks. Later, the Communist party sacrificed millions to gain control over the masses and for less than a century ruled China.
