This one genuinely felt like a horror movie. Between Kari’s unsettling visions, the fog-covered world, the eerie Dark Ocean, and the looming presence of Dragomon, this episode gives us some of the creepiest and most fascinating world-building in the entire series. We absolutely loved the Cthulhu-esque atmosphere and the sense that something ancient and terrifying is lurking just beyond what the DigiDestined can understand. At the same time, this episode gives us some wonderful Kari and T.K. moments as their relationship continues to grow, leading to some of the sweetest and most memorable interactions of the season. We’re breaking down the mystery of the Dark Ocean, why the lack of a true resolution is both frustrating and fascinating, and why this might be one of the most haunting episodes Digimon ever produced.
