His Response to Aspiring Ambushers

The religious leaders of Jesus' time - the Pharisees and the Sadducees - had failed to control Jesus or wow Him with their knowledge and position. In fact, they'd lost every verbal sparring match up to this point in the Gospels. They decided to send in their B-team along with their political rivals, the Herodians, with a loaded question- What about taxes, Jesus- Either answer, for or against, would have set Jesus at odds with half the group.--Of course, Jesus was never surprised by their tactics and masterfully taught them - and us - valuable lessons rather than fall into their trap - lessons about government and God's sovereignty which are helpful to this very day.
