After "I do" Ajax Kouros had a plan. Being jilted at the altar? Not part of it - especially when facing a thousand guests and one hundred reporters. His company's future depends on marrying a Holt, and when his bride's sister steps up to the altar, can he say no? Leah Holt grew up watching her beautiful socialite sister hang on Ajax's arm. Now she has the chance to stand in the spotlight and save her family's fortune. But saying "I do" is only the beginning, and Leah soon realizes that the man she married is far more complex and distracting than the boy of her childhood fantasies.

Introspective Rumination Ruins this Story
I'm not going to recap the plot of this because the blurb on this page is good plus you get an excerpt as well.
This is my third and last book by this author. Unfortunately her writing style for most of the book is introspective rumination by the main characters. By that I mean, little of the book is showing. It's mostly telling. We are mostly told how the main characters are with very little showing why they are the way they are.
With EVERY SINGLE interaction between the hero/heroine, they constantly, inside their own heads, go over and over and over their many faults and why they have them. Once or twice of this is fine but this goes on and on, page after page. ARGH!
The characters did almost nothing. Almost no interaction with any secondary characters and other than a honeymoon, no activities either. Any good writing is just totally overshadowed by the rumination of the main characters. There is no substance to this book, not even in the aspect of entertainment.
The definition of "Rumination" is: compulsively focusing on the symptoms of one's distress and on it's possible causes and consequences. This book fits that definition perfectly.
I think three books is giving the author a fair shake. I won't be buying any more. Just not for me.
Starts out well....
The first chapter is the best part of this book - it has an interesting plot premise, even if the idea that some businessman would just turn over his life's work to whatever guy was first to marry one of his daughters is completely unbelievable. Anyway, the "ugly" sister steps in to marry the guy she's always had the hots for when her older sister leaves him at the altar.
From there...it's pretty predictable. And then the reason the Hero is so tortured turns out to be that he almost did something bad when he was sixteen and high on drugs his father gave him. He's like 32 in the book, so...it's kind of anti-climactic as the source of so much being a jerk to her.
And then the final few pages....after his head-turning conversion to being in love with her...he gives a speech that, while lovely, is nothing any man would ever say, no matter how much in love he was - and sounded completely out of character for him.
This is a great book to just read half of and rest assured that it all works out in the end.
Disappointmentville: His Ring Is Not Enough by Maisey Yates
2 out of 5 stars, this novel is about a lost soul getting married to his fiancéeâs sister because of a snafu that happens right before the wedding and them coming to terms with their new life together...
I was optimistic for this novel because I liked the previous novels I've read by Ms. Yates.
