HI(S)STORY
The whole of the bible is His story, a story of love and hope. Carefully woven in every fabric of scripture is the person of Jesus, the only begotten Son of God. Jesus came down from heaven to earth to reconcile fallen man back to God.
To assure us we always had a place with Him on the right side of God the Father, dear to him and close to His heart.
It is true, our life stories have been varied but, if you looked very closely, you would see that revealed in the intricacies of your life is the story of Jesus the Christ. Look, see that you are an important part of the story of God’s love and care.
It does not matter if your story is like Olayide’s or Nana’s
Let’s pause awhile and look through their lives.
Olayide (wealth rolled in) was born to poor parents. Mama was housekeeper to the church administrator, and Pop was the church security guard. Even though their family setting was humble, by God's divine positioning, they were exposed to the higher strata of society because of their work. Mr. James being the church administrator, had friends across the social classes. Middle class himself, it was easy to flow higher and lower at will. His house hosted the crème de la crème of the society. This afforded Yide's mom and by association Yide the opportunity to at least hear their speeches, see their graces and sometimes partake of their largesse.
Yide's dad was a jolly fellow. Everybody loved him. It was not difficult to extend the grace to his daughter. Yide enjoyed from both sides. She was a beautiful child herself. She did not see any difference between her and the upper-class kids. She even thought of herself smarter than they were. Even though Yide had all these privileges, the mom always made it a point to remind her. They were only enjoying the grace of Mr. James and the church. ‘Child’, she cautioned many times, ‘never forget who you are’.
Nana was everybody's babe; and would give herself away for a farthing. What was the big deal? Did her dad and uncle not force it out of her? She was now giving it out free, how in the world would anyone have a problem with that? The only thing is, every time it happened, she felt dirty. Then she met Fred. He was kind and gentle, didn't want sex, just her. She was not used to kind men. She knew the crude and rough ones, ones with the curse words and stout chested beer-guzzling fellas.
Can someone tell Fred to use the door?’ Her pain ran too deep.
Does the fact that Nana went through valley ways lessen the import of His story in her life? Certainly not. It is all part of it. It all works out well in the end.
The bible lets us know that all things work together for good to them that love God and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28)
No matter what your story is, the blueprint is that you are a king and a priest. Heavens royal travelling through earth and definitely looking forward to returning home someday.
However the journey is, it is designed to tell the ultimate love story.
THE STORY OF LOVE EVERLASTING, LOVE UNCONDTIONAL, LOVE UNFLINCHING AND LOVE UNTAINTED.
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
(1 Peter 2:9)
If your path turned out rough, turn it on the devil’s head. Have a meeting with yourself. Tell yourself some TRUTH! Ask deep questions. You cannot afford to lie to yourself. You cannot give up now; you have come too far. You are stronger than you give yourself credit for. It doesn't matter where you are coming from, what you have had to go through. What matters is where you are going and how you get there.
Receive Strength my beloved, you are an important part of the story.
