An interdisciplinary scholar of Latin American history and dance, Schwall is the author of Dancing with the Revolution: Power, Politics, and Privilege in Cuba (University of North Carolina Press, 2021). She explains the various ways that staged dance was infused with political significance by a variety of Cuban actors.
