This week, Rachel discusses the fall of the shogunate AKA the Tokugawa Period as Japan continues to have an emperor (and still does) but decides to give constitutions a try. Also discussed is the start of the fall of the Ottoman empire and we inch closer and closer to WW1 and the 20th century. Japan tries to play nice with others and then decides that it doesn’t want to and instead wants to become a well-oiled machine whereas in the Ottoman empire, they are having a little bit of a loyalty issue.
