This episode begins with a tribute to Bill Delp from episode 2. Bill, who represented the Fighting Falcon Museum, brought history to life by sharing the fascinating story of this remarkable piece of Montcalm County’s heritage.
We then revisit Margrett Krebs from episode 6. Margrett’s 100 years of life provided a window into a century of change, from her early days in Trufant to her later years in Howard City. Her perspective reminds us of the resilience and adaptability of our community over time.
Ralph Hauenstein, featured in episode 13, spent over three decades as the Reynolds Township Supervisor. His leadership from 1970 to 2004 helped shape the township into what it is today, leaving a lasting mark on the community he served.
No reflection would be complete without mentioning Rich Pease, who passed in 2021. Duane had the honor of featuring Rich and his wife Cheryl during Howard City’s 150th celebration in episode 47. Rich’s story reminds us of the strength and spirit of Montcalm County, even in the face of battles like cancer—a sentiment shared as we say together, “Cancer Sucks.”
Finally, we look back at episode 95, which told the story of George Ravell and his family. Titled “If This Barn Could Talk,” this episode captured the essence of history, community, and the personal stories that tie us to our roots.
The Discover Montcalm Podcast is more than just a platform for sharing—it’s a way to preserve the fabric of our county’s history. Each guest, whether an individual, a business, or an organization, contributes to the larger narrative of Montcalm County.
