In the 36th millennium, The Imperium was lost. The Emperor was a corpse,  the primarchs were either lost, in stasis, or just went to get some  drukhari tail. In the power vacuum, a man rose and he wasn't a good  person. 

This lead to the full rise of the Cult of the Imperium, the  sisters of battle, and new rules.   

The Adepta Sororitas started as simple women, slowly becoming a force to  be reckoned with. This is their history. Nick explains all of this  while his wife, Sonam, builds out her new army, the Sororitas.
